Ending extreme poverty is the first Sustainable Development Goal. Not because it's the easiest, but because everything else depends on it. Health, education, opportunity: none of it works without a financial floor. Steady, monthly income provides that floor.
A systematic review of conditional and unconditional cash transfers across Sub-Saharan Africa found significant positive effects on poverty reduction, education enrollment, and health outcomes.
